HI, I'm new to scubaboard, but not to diving. Decided it was time for our sons (16 and 18) to join us. I hate renting gear, but can't afford two new sets, so I'm slowly acquiring gear for them. I don't mind older (but well working) stuff - I started in 1971 and my regulator (while substantially updated) is the one I bought then. Never a problem.

I was trying to find out how to post a new thread, and this seems the only place I can. So first: how do I find the 'button' to post new threads in other topic areas?

Second: the reason I wanted to post a thread. As part of a regulator package I bought there is a "SeaQuest" "Suunto" electronic dive timer or computer. I'm replacing the batteries. Check out the picture, does anyone know what model this is. Do you know where I can get a users manual?

The rest of the rig was worth what I spent, so if I get this working it is a bonus.

Welcome to ScubaBoard!

I see the "post thread" button on the upper left of most forum directories. Is it not there for you? Use the menus that appear when you hover over "Forum" on the blue section near the top of the page, or click it and the whole menu stucture appears. Then navigate to a topic area related to your question.

I seem to recall you need like 5 posts before you can do certain things (like posts links to URLs - this cuts down on the spam guys - "click here to get rich" ...)

There is a forum on computers/gages,etc. in the equipment section.

You may also want to search (you can see the search box, right?) on SeaQuest or Suunto and see if there is an existing thread that you could reply to. (Or maybe even find that someone asked a question about a similar looking device that would answer your question.) The search function is a bit quirky at times, but you can stumble on some really good stuff with it.

One last "cheat" to get some help - there is a report button on the lower left of each individual post. That flags one of the moderators (like traffic cops). You could ask for your question to be moved to the appropriate place. Most of the mods are helpful folks and happy to accomodate the occasional request for assistance, although the report button is actually intended for flagging problems.

Good luck, and post often!

I unscrewed the bezel (not easy as it has no knurling) and replaced the two Everyready 357 watch batteries. Reassembled (after cleaning and lubeing the threads and o-ring and it works in surface mode. It gets tested along with some other gear in a pool tomorrow. I'll post pictures of the operation later. Still would like to know what model the computer is.
