I'm totally new to this diving gig, but I just gotta go there.

I'm going to do the online etraining and then head to Cozumel for my OWC. I can't wait to do this. Does anyone have a suggestion as to who is the best shop to go to in Coz?

I'd appreciate any abd all input.

Aloha and welcome to SB! It is awesome you are pursuing your certification and Cozumel is a fantastic place to dive.

Question...if you are doing the e-learning through PADI, you can actually select the PADI dive shop in Cozumel with which you would like to work and that way, they can monitor your e-training progress and be available to answer any questions and also be prepared for when you do arrive. In addition, they'll have a decent feel for you as a student and what areas of concern you might have, etc. So, I would recommend you affiliate your e-learning class w/the Cozumel dive shop beforehand.

As far as recommendations for a good Cozumel dive shop...I know that PADI has a list by location on their main website but that doesn't necessarily tell you anything about the quality of that particular shop. If no one jumps on here to recommend anyone, you can always try that...

Best of luck to you and happy diving!

You really should take the class and pool portion of the course locally to where you live. Why use up time in Coz in a pool and classroom? DO the required 4 open water training dives in Coz with a referral for your local facility. We have classes running all the time here in Westchester NY where people have already planned to complete training dives in the islands.

What they said ^^^^^

That's the route my wife and I took for ours, and it worked out very well. We weren't in Cozumel, but I do know that our local dive shop goes to Scuba Club in Cozumel every year and have no complaints. I just haven't been able to afford it yet. They do have a Dive Shop/Training Center there also. If you click on the "courses" link on the right, it gives you the prices/oerview of each course. You could always send them an e-mail asking for info.

Hello, welcome to the world of SCUBA, you'll love it. We were in Playa del Carmen this past August and my wife got her ow (I got my advanced ow) through Diversity Diving, they are great. Drop them a line and tell them Jim Sullivan recommended you.
