Just got my Amphibico housing !

I received today my Amphibico housing for my HDR-HC9 and i also received
my Salvo HID 10 watts with diffuser with the arm . nice setup ...i really like
the housing ...its well made very solid , controls on the right handle are stiff
but my girlfriend will manage ... heavy setup. Can't wait to put this in the water
in Coz next month ... i just have to find a way to carry that in the plane ..i am already loaded with my slr' s U/W outfit.

Hey jfproul,

I recently flew with my u/w video set up including my amphibico EVO Elite housing 3 lights, Sony HC7 and my nikon d200 lenses and housing.... including laptop, external hard drive and all the bells and whistles...for the underwater housing I just carried it on the plane using the supplied soft case. The airline was quite understanding after I told them the price of the gear and that I would have to sit in the belly of the plane too if I was forced to check it... If course they allowed me to carry everything on...but my wife was with me and we carried an equal amount.

I sure this is silly to say but make sure you leave the back gate open during your flight.

I wont lie, & cant sugar coat it...it SUCKS to fly with video / still and all other gear. TSA is getting to be a real pain about the 50lb exact limit per bag...alot of airlines have gone to ONE check on bag and the second you have to pay for. Plus they hate canister battery packs and wont even go into Lithium batteries (make sure they are in seperate plastic bags and the contacts are taped) ...I carry alot on with me too, try to always get on early or first that way you have alot of over head space (first come first serve =)

.. before you go to Cozumel. My unit had to be sent back because under 65' the buttons did not work. I have heard others have had the same problem. Seems they use softer springs to make it easier to operate the buttons and will upgrade to stronger springs if you plan on going deeper. I have not been in the water since I received the unit back from the Amphibico. I only mention this because I went on a trip only to find I could only shoot reef shots and nothing deep, better to find out before you go.

well... good to know about those buttons , i am leaving next friday so , it'll be
hard to get it checked before my departure ... i am from montreal so its not too far,
Amphibico is about 10 miles from where i work , i found those button hard to press but
it wasn't an issue but since you mentionned it, it could be one .

fwiw, stronger springs weren't mentioned as an option on my EVO and I've used the zoom at around 102-105' with no loss of function. I do have one of the first production units though, it's not an Elite.

Although I may already have the stiffer springs, the buttons are a little hard to press...LOL.
