I was lucky I got to leave cold Canada and get certified in the Bahamas. We managed to get in 12 dives in a week with Stuart Cove. Diving there was awesome. I am trying to get my advanced diver certification next on the West Coast.

Congratulations! I have yet to dive in the New Providence area of the Bahamas but hope to soon. At your brisk pace of training you may be asking for a username change soon...

P.S. Stay active on the board. There is a wealth of information available...

Thanks. I am glad I found this board. I have a question though. After I was certified my instructor just basically left me in the hands of the dive master on the boat and some people have suggested to me that he really should have stuck around to make sure we were ok . This was the day after we were certified and he was busy with another guy who was doing rescue diving. The reason I ask is because I may end up doing my advanced with the same instructor. any thoughts?

Congrats on the C Card! No Bahamian waters up in Cool Canada!
OK your instructor had you dive with a DM on the boat? as a buddy? on a dive? you said we so I assume that you mean you did a dive with the DM after you were certified like as in a fun dive,
to have a DM as a dive buddy puts you in the hands of the best dive buddy you can have next to a great instructor that dives=IMO.As Dm's can be instructor's or working there way towards being a course instructor.
So was the dive OK?did you feel safe?
Good luck sounds like you had some major diving while in The Bahamas the turquoise waters ,,,I got to get back soon,
Brad

hi there. No I meant we are in my sons and I. We all got ceritified together down there. No the next day after certification we were just out with another group on the boat. My buddies were my newly certified teenagers. The dive master was leading the whole group.

I felt safe on the lead dive as there was a group of us. My newly ceritified sons and I were diving together. The way they do it with Stuart Cove is they do a deep dive along with wall that is lead by a dive master and then they do a shallow unlead dive. I didn't feel that great on the unlead dive mostly because my sons quickly ditched me and my other partner. But by the end of the week I was totally comfortable. You have to be responsible for your own safety right?
