First I would like to thank Undefined for recommending Coconut Tree Divers in this forum. They were as good of a dive operation as I have ever seen. They picked me up and dropped me off in Wet Bay. Gay, P.J. and Tree were a lot of fun and full of great recommendations. I went out on the " advanced" boat every morning. All the divers I dove with had good air consumption and decent buoyancy skills. A nice change.
Got to do some great dives including the Wreck of the Aguila twice and Hole in the Wall, which was on a day with just me on the boat. Got to love a dive op that will go out with only one diver. Their big boat is nice and completely covered.
We stayed at Foster's in West Bay. Foster's is very nice but West Bay is way over priced and you feel kind of trapped when the sun goes down. Next time I will stay in West End which has decent night life and great restaurants. I am already planning on going back at the end of the year.

danktex,

I'm glad you had such a good trip! Coconut Tree Divers is the best (in my opinion)!

Have any photos to share?

My camera broke the week before my trip. It beat me home from the repair shop. To bad, I was about to drop some money on a good strobe. There is always next time.

Bummer to hear about your cam failing right before your trip! I just ordered a new one and I'm fighting back the urge to order a second one for my wife (two cameras = two happy divers). When we went in January I shot about 600 frames while diving with Coconut Tree - I just hang in the back and click away while the rest of the group does their thing. I find the photo side of diving to be quite therapeutic.... very relaxing :)

I'm leaving on Saturday morning for Roatan. We too are diving with Coconut Tree. Gay has been corresponding with me since February. They seem to really care about their clients.

Danktex, did Coconut Tree have gear storage at the shop? We're traveling with everything except the kitchen sink... (JK! It just feels that way. Gear takes up an entire bag each.)

Yes they do have room for your gear. I brought everything, when I was done for the day I cleaned it and hung it up. At the end of the day they put it inside.

Gay is a riot. She picked me up every morning in West Bay and drove me to the shop. On occasion she would make a detour to show me a restaurant I might like to try later. They really make you feel like one of the family. Every one who works there are extremely experienced divers. You are going to have a blast.

Gay and PJ are a blast. Diving with Coconut Tree is like going to visit long lost friends and/or family.

get10wet - They will stow your gear. You are responsible for cleaning / rinsing your own gear, but they will stow it in the shop without any problems. Coconut Tree has an armed security night watchman who keeps an eye on the shop after they've locked up for the evening. While no place in Honduras is crime free, I'd say your gear will be as safe or safer at Coconut Tree as it would be at your hotel.

danktex - Who all did you dive with? Is Liz still around? We spent a lot of time with Lauren, Liz, Will (UK), Will (Canada), and of course Gay, PJ and Tree. Will (UK) is our favorite dive instructor anywhere - he helped my wife get over her new diver jitters on our first trip, and I've almost got her convinced to take the wreck class with me from Will.

I dove with Luca, Jose and Lauren. I did not meet Will (UK) while I was there, I wanted to talk to him about taking some Tech classes. I met Will (Canada) in the shop as well as a whole host of DM candidates.
