Hi,
I've purchased a hookah rig which is a bit of an antique. Cleaned up the fuel system on it yesterday and fired right up. It looks to have two cylinders that compress air separ ately .

It reminds me of a Brownie system but i think it produces less pressure. The literature i see say's its limited to 25 feet for two divers. Also it originally was designed to pump air to a divers full face mask. I'm fine with a low pressure regulator instead.....
My funds are low so i'd like to set it up as low cost as possible. Any suggestions are appreciated.
I'm aware of the dangers of surface air supplied compressors. i.e.carbon monoxide.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi roastbeef,
Ebay isn't getting it specifically for this unit. What i think i need is to rig some hose and have it supply a low pressure reg just like a Brownie system. I'm looking into Home depot water hose for an air supply system. they have half and three quarter in long lengths. Looks sturdy and would be non toxic ......Also uses Brass fittings . We're looking at 4.25 cfm and 15-25 psi. Depths to 25-35 feet. Originally this system supplied a full face mask which fed into the side and was directed to exhaust out the other side.....My intent here is to get as simple and inexpensive a system as possible... Someone suggested that some dive shops can take older rental regs and set them up for low pressure.....

I would be leery of using water hose. Most cheap plastics have high amounts of taste and odor that slowly leeches out in the fluid flow. In the case of water for your garden, no problem. But if you are breathing through it, you will get some awful tastes and smells and, to me, that translates into breathing less than save air.

I would stick to hose that is designed for your use just to be safe.

The problem with compressor hose that you buy at Home Depoh is it can be easly crimped. Brownie hose is crimp free and floats.

Good luck

Used an old one a few years ago with the original hoses, which are some kind of vinyl. I think the hoses had deteriorated and something was leaching out of them. I ended up feeling like I was in a huge whirlpool and spinning. I came up and haven't used it since. I think new hoses are the answer but don't know where to get anything safe.
