JBL Gulf Mag muzzle on a Competition Magnum XHD?

Found a Competition Magnum XHD cheap and got it. It looks like it was never used.

The muzzle is plastic and I don't trust it. Also the wing style muzzle has caused me problems in the past like having the shooting line go into the wing slot and the bands acting as a brake on the shooting line.

The Gulf Magnum XHD has a muzzle more like that on my Biller, no wings. Anybody know if I can use a Gulf Mag muzzle on my Comp Magnum?

Absolutely can. I have both guns with the "gulf" muzzle. And a 38 Spl XHD same way. Robbie

The only problem that I experienced with the winged muzzle is that the bands kept falling out when I shot the gun, the cure for this is to wrap a ziptie around the wing between the outer and middle band and the ziptie will prevent the wing from spreading and letting the band loose.

I changed the muzzle to the Gulf style, and never had any problems with the gun or the bands getting loose.

I used this Competition Magnum XHD for 11 yrs and retired it a month ago in favor of a Woody Magnum, all Woodys have a Gulf style muzzle, and the 63" model tracks different than my old Competition XHD, I'll have to get used to it, but operation is the same on both.

That Competition, if maintained well, will serve you for many yrs to come.
