We planned to dive in Caymans (Brac or Little) in Apr, but sold out. Now thinking about an a/i in Jamaica with diving. I assume Negril area would be best. We are both 340+ dives, but getting old ;). We want to do an inclusive dives with resort,-- which would be best: Couples Negril, Couples Swept Away or Sandals Negril???? Want to do 2 dives a day, preferably in the AM so we can have a beer at noon. (LOL)

Couples Swept Away is a small, intimate resort that has a good dive OP on-site. We stayed there many years ago, and it was peaceful (at the time). If you are also looking for topside entertainment, this may not be the place for you.

If you are looking for diving and nightly entertainment, might I suggest one of the Riu Resorts in Negril.

I've stayed at Hotel Riu Palace Tropical Bay. I don't feel that the Riu's in Jamaica are quite as nice as elsewhere in the world, but nonetheless, a nice place. I used Sundivers as my dive OP, and they do free pickup's and drop-offs from Riu. As I recall, Sundivers is about a 5 minute ride from the resort.

Sundivers:SUNDIVERS NEGRIL JAMAICA
I should state that Sundivers was sold a few years ago. As I understand it, none of the original crew still works there.

I took a cab over to ClubHotel Riu for a little recon, and actually preferred this resort Hotel Negril, ClubHotel Riu Negril - Hoteles RIU Hotels & Resorts

For what it's worth, I have bookmarked Tensing Pen, another resort in Negril. I haven't stayed there, and have not seen it in person, but it looked interesting.

If you decide to venture about Negril for dining, PM me and I will send you a list of the best places to eat.

One of my complaints when we stayed at Couples Negril the first time in 2003 was the fact that the on-site dive op did one morning dive and then one afternoon dive (except on Saturdays, when they did a two-tank morning dive), so you had to walk past all the folks drinking at the pool bar after your first dive and again before your second dive, and you having not been afforded the opportunity of amortizing your all-inclusive status for much of the day.

On our second trip to Couples Negril (2008), we used Sundivers, and did the normal two-tank morning routine, and then could come back to the resort for a late lunch and adult beverages.

Not sure about the other resorts, but my impression is that they follow the same approach of Couples, which is the morning dive for more "advanced" divers, and then the afternoon dive for the Discover Scuba crowd (but certified divers are free to join in on that dive, as well).

Sorry to hear about the changes as Sundivers, we really enjoyed diving with them.

Not sure what we will do for our third trip in 2013, but Sundivers had been on our radar screen, however we were going to stay somewhere other than Couples (more for variety than anything else, they were good both times we stayed there).

If you go, a trip report or update would be appreciated.

Sandals Negril is the same: 1 morning dive and 1 around lunch. Awesome staff at the diveshop and the rest of the resort is absolutely great. Although I find it a little pricey, you get what you pay for. We are heading back there this year for New Years.
