Jamaica - non-diving

Headed on a cruise soon. We'll be diving in a couple of ports but my s/o would rather stay above water in Jamaica.

Is Falmouth a safe enough area to walk around during the day? Anything worth knowing before strolling down the pier there?

Jamaica is unsafe outside of a resort. That is my experience and my opinion. Book an organized tour, do not go on your own.

For those playing along at home, we walked around Falmouth for a couple of hours and never felt remotely unsafe. We strolled around for a while checking out some of the historical buildings around town then stopped and had some delicious ackee and saltfish at Donna's Restaurant as well as a tasty Jamaican meat patty at Spicy Nice.

There's not a ton of stuff to do in town, but it's a quaint little Caribbean village.

Happy you enjoyed your stay here and got to sample some of our cuisine. Ackee and saltfish is basically our national dish. Our meat patties are also another favourite and a must have by regular visitors here who have had it.
