My wife and I just got certified in Colorado and this was our first time ocean diving. We did a total of 11 dives and have absolutely zero complaints. Our first two dives (Rock Beach and Baby Beach) were just my wife and me with our DM (Rudolph) and his personal instruction/guide/tips made us very comfortable to tackle the rest of the week. From there, we embarked on 8 boat dives that included ship/plane wrecks, drift dives and awesome reefs. The groups were small and we picked up additional DM's (Walter and Etienne) for these trips. They all knew where the best sights were and made it their goal to make sure we saw as much as possible. We were so hooked by day two that they went out of their way to arrange a night dive for our last dive day.

A word about safety. Although these guys had great senses of humor above water, they were all business when it came to prep, briefings and the dives. Going to another country, I wondered what the attention to safety would be like and I was very impressed with this operation. They took no chances and always errored on the side of caution. They were also very cautious for the environment and reminded all of us to avoid damaging that beautiful world below.

If you do mulitiple dives with Jads, you are seriously missing out if you don't spend the time to get to know them all. They have great stories, are fun to hang with and make the surface time a blast. We can honestly say that we made 4 new friends and look forward to staying in touch with them. Brush up on your 80's hair metal trivia before going down so you can challenge Walter's knowledge. Etienn, who also was the boat captain for several trips, is a very nice guy, goes out of his way to help and provides good nicknames. Rudolph loves to talk and can be bribed with food, especially dark chocolate.

JP, the owner, got with us several times to make sure we were being treated right and to see if there was anything they could improve. It was obvious that he cares very much about his customers and wants to make sure they enjoy themselves. He even declined to make more money off of us and recommended something else when we inquired.

To sum it up, you can't go wrong with Jads. You'll get personalized attention in small groups, go to great sites and, most important, have a ton of fun!

Yes JADS is a class act.... and they do cater to your skill level. I look forward to some extreme shore dives with JP... :) BTW I think your post was great.

I am going to Aruba in February. It will be my first time there. I have been monitoring the various posts relating to diving there. I was asking my LDS whom they recommended and they mentioned Jads. It is certainly one of the shops I plan to visit to schedule my dies. Thanks your thoughts.

LOL...I would have deserved it...but look "abot" :-)

Dove with them Nov. 2008... Will be there in 4 weeks end of October... Have 8 dives books... Rudolph is amazing!!

I dove with JADS last Dec for a week. I've been diving for 25 years & this group was one of the very best! Professional, safe & very, very fun. They even let my daughters tag along at no extra charge (didn't hurt they are beauties!). Highly recommended dive op!!!

Thank you so much for the information about JADS. I'm planning a trip to Aruba nex April and have heard many good things about this operation. Did you dive with any other operations while you were in Aruba? Would you be willing to share restaurant recommendations? I'm getting more and more excited about diving in Aruba as April gets closer!

We didn't dive with anyone else but did see a couple of operations when we were at common dive areas - Jads was great at keeping us away from the hoards, which was nice. The other operations we saw were larger and, thus, didn't appear to give the personal service that my wife and I enjoyed so much.

As for restaurants, we are not big on the "touristy" places that you can go no matter where you vacation. We'd rather find the "hole in the wall" locations that the locals go to. We did find a couple of gems this way.

One is a local chain called "La Granja." It's a Peruvian grill that is known for its chicken, pork and steak (all with Peruvian spices). For about $15 we got a whole chicken, and an entire plate loaded with rice and garlic/cheese potatoes (took me three meals to finally finish it off). They have one in the middle of the Capital as well as another along the highway down to Jads.

Also owned by the same family is a little nicer place that specializes in fresh fish. It's called "La Pescadera" (not sure about the spelling) and it is also in the Capital city. We found it by just driving around.

The one tourist place we went that we liked was the Argentinian steak house called "El Gaucho." The steaks were great and the inside is cool as well.

Some of the tourist places that were recommended to us, but turned out to be nothing special, were "Peanuts" and Charlie's Bar. Charlies was kind of cool to visit but nothing special on the food - although they made a great "Arnie Palmer" with limeade after I told them what it was.

Hope that helps and enjoy your trip! If you go with Jads, tell them that "Rambo and Princess" (the nicknames they gave us) say Hi.
