Hi all,

Im very new to this forum. I'm Greek and mostly dive in Greek waters for spearfishing and a bit of underwater photography when on SCUBA gear. Im thinking of investing in an underwater camera and ditch the one I currently got which is marginally better from a disposable one. Im thinking to buy the canon ixus 750 and its underwater casing. the whole setup will cost will cost around £400 or $700. Main advantage is that I get a normal camara as well as one to use underwater. Has anyone used the ixus underwater, any feedback will be really welcome. Moreover have you got any suggestions for any other underwater cameras I could buy for that kind of budget. Looking to buy in the next day or two so quick feedback will be highly appreciated.

Many thanks

The whole Ixus series is a great performer in low light conditions. I believe those to be of great importance for underwater photography. My advice, based on what I know would be to go for this setup.

That being said, I have yet to use mine under water... I have no underwater casing - so, basically I've no experience there.

Hi Mislav

Many thanks for your reply.

Would anyone on this board happen to have any underwater shots with the 750? More importantly has anyone shot video underwater with it. Hows the sound?

From what I have read on the web. Im kind of divided between the 750 and the s80. Not sure I fully understand the differences between the cams since I aint exactly yhe most technical person. Any feedback would be highly appreciated.

Thanks

Good news - I'm sure you'll be satisfied. Remember to come back to post the pictures! "My first pictures" will make a great thread. :)

Besides the Canon housing for the SD-550/IXUS-750 good to 130 feet/40 meters, Ikelite makes one good to at least 200 feet that is fairly inexpensive for an Ikelite housing since it's so simple.

many thanks for feedback, camera hasnt been delivered yet.

Tom thanks for the Ikelite tip, will be looking into it and ordering one of the two next week

Ctsibos!

I'm currently using one, I think, it's a great camera. Really fast focusing (Digic II). Check out some of the photos, I took with it! Click on the link below:

hi Ed Dman,

thanks so much for your feedback. my camera has arrived and out of water photos look pretty amazing. I havent tried any underwater ones just yet but will do soon. quick question if you dont mind. I checked your pictures (which are stunning) and wanted to ask you whether you had been using any external flash when snapping them.

Hi Ctsibos!

Cool! I'm sure, you're gonna love your camera (Ixus750)!
I do have an external strobe, but as for the majority of those pictures taken, I didn't use the strobe! When I took those pictures, I was basically testing out the camera (Ixus750) and all it's functions. It's a great camera!
By the way, thanks for the compliment! :D

Happy Diving & Enjoy Your New Ixus750!

Ed.
