Hello

Just registered so thought I should introduce myself. I'm Ken. I live in Alberta, Canada and got my OW in October/2011. I have always wanted to dive and for whatever reasons or excuses, waited until I was 45 to do it. When a dive shop(Leisure Dive Canada) opened a few blocks from home I figured it was time.

I got certified in/around Calgary Alberta, where the water is usually cold and all the dives are at altitiude. After my OW cert in october, I dove twice in lake Mead while on a vegas vacation, also cold(7mm suit). january 2012 saw me spend a week at Wyndam Fortuna on GBI and get in 8 dives there. Shark, rays, turtles and Theo's wreck. too bad the week had to end. April was a family cruise where I managed a couple dives in Belize and a couple in the Caymans.

Looking to get my AOW this summer here in Alberta and then get in some more warm water diving over the winter.

Welcome to the board!

Welcome!

Welcome, now you can move to a tropical climate and dive more to make up for lost time ;P !!!!....Tell your family it's for health reasons ;O !!!!!

It is never too late to dive. I started diving at 59 and wish that I had started sooner, but it is still a great sport.

Welcome Ken!

You are right - definitely never too old to learn! My oldest student was in his 80s and could swim circles around many of his fellow students! He wanted to do a beach dive one morning in Roatan and I wanted to take a nap. He told me not to waste time, since you can sleep when your dead! Needless to say, we did 2 more beach dives that day!

May the scuba gods smile on you!
