The family is cruising in April...I don't typically book dive excursions but will this trip on all of our stops. Has anyone here done the excursion from a Carnival Cruise line before and would it be worth it to book the cruise ships package or should I book something via a local dive shop. We can depart at 10 but must return by 6. Thanks!

Carnival uses Anthony's Key Resort They should get you out to a couple of good north side sites. We did the dolphin dive there. I don't cruise so don't know their schedule for cruise pax. They have really nice boats designed for diving, dual ladders on the stern, camera table, covered etc. Looked like they could fit quite a few divers on if needed though - on our boat there was only the 5 of us plus DM and Video diver but we were the only dolphin divers that morning. AKR shuttles you both ways as part of the cruise pkg.

Another north side option might be Coconut Tree Divers in the West End (also north side) - they have a 1PM and 2:30PM dive. Their boat returns to the dock between dives in case you want to walk around instead of doing the 2nd dive. It's about a 20min cab ride to the West End so you should have time to get back to your ship - the port is in Coxen Hole on the south side. The cab stand in the West End is across the street so you shouldn't have any trouble with a ride back.

A third option is the Dockside Dive Center at Cocoview.
Dockside has plenty to offer the guests of CoCo View, as well as cruise ship visitors stopping by the resort.
They're on the south side so a shorter ride east of the port.

At either AKR or Cocoview plan on staying there the whole time - they're both a little isolated.
