Seeking information on diving off Isla Mujeres and snorkeling with the whale sharks. Did anyone go last year in August? Recommendations? Reviews?

Did go in mid-July 2017. Diving was so-so, shallow and vis was below average Caribbean. Across the channel in Akumal diving was way better. Snorkeling with whale sharks was pretty good, if you are OK with suffering a 55 min ride on a speed boat. We went on the day of the full Moon, and this helped.
