Has anybody been to Isla Margarita lately? I have been invited down next Jan. and wondered about the dive shops and the diving down therre. Will be staying in the Pampatar region.

I think the lack of responses may be a clue about that location. I would try to talk them into somewhere else.

Hey TJ, In reply to your question, I am the divemaster for Enomis Divers and our store is located on the main drag going through Playa El Agua, Margarita Island. We are open 0930 to 1730 monday through saturday. We dive every tuesday, thursday and saturday. Monday, wednesday and friday we teach our classes and service equipment. Sundays we are closed. We have 2 modern custom dive boats, a 30' Island Hopper named "Explorador 1" and a 26' Mako, which are docked at the Concorde Marina and are boarded from a wooden dock. Around Margarita, diving is easy and relaxing, and we offer "Valet Service" diving unless you rather do everything yourself. We mainly dive around the off shore islands of Los Frailes, Cubagua and El Farallon. I can take you drift diving at Payape and La Pecha, visit an old sunken yacht at Cominoto, wreck dive a sunken ferry at Cubagua, or swim entirely around Farallon and see the underwater bronze statue of "the virgen of the vally". We do day and night diving. We have hard and soft corrals, reefs, all the Caribbean reef fish to include Barracuda, octopus, lobster, needle fish, puffers, jacks, flying gunnards, etc. What we dont have around here are sharks. In addition, Margarita Island offers a world class wind and kite surfing beach, modern malls (for the wife or girlfriend), casinos (if you want to loose money), beaches ranging from crowded tourist beaches to pristine out of the way beaches where hardly anyone goes, golfing, horseback riding, historic forts, fine restaurants, etc. And best of all its still very affordable and is much cheaper than most Caribbean resorts. Here is a short dive report:
WATER TEMP: ranges from 22 to 27 degrees with average of 25 degrees
VIZ: ranges from 2 meters to 50 meters with average of around 20 meters depending on the time of year.
WEATHER: Beautiful year around (its warm even when it raines)

If you have additional questions, you can send me a private email and I will be more than happy to answer them. Hope to see ya soon!
