Is this Fantasea a good strobe, tray, and light combo to start with?

Hi guys,

I have an olympus XZ-1 with oly housing and really want to take it to the next level. Could anyone comment and let me know if this is a good package to start with or if you have suggestions for a different package.

Thanks!

Totally serviceable. I started with something similar and eventually moved to two YS-01s, but that setup will definitely get you started in the correct direction.

That said, I prefer the ball and clamp arms over the flex arms, and $900 seems a bit steep to me. I might suggest something along these lines:
Dual Modular YS-01 Light Set

Hi Asha! Thanks for the link and advice. I did not even know your product existed.

The difference between the first package and the second one is that the first one has a 1300 Lumen video light , that is obviously not needed if you do not want to shoot video.

If you don't need a video light, you could go way cheaper and just get the YS-01 ( It has a built in modelling light which is not much different than the Nano Focus light ) , check out this package here:
Sea and Sea YS-01 Single Strobe Package

One thing to consider is that Sea and Sea YS-01 strobes currently do not support TTL with the XZ-1 , you can check it out on their compatibility page. As such, you may want to go with Inon
Inon S-2000 Strobe Package

Or just get the manual YS-02 and save another 100$ or so..
YS-02 strobe package

Good Luck.

Just saw this note. Thanks!

Hi Tal. Besides the Inon S-2000, are their any other strobes you sell that could do ttl with the XZ-1? Thanks.

Moziak could well be correct but I bought a SnS 110a and after I bought it looked at their site and it stated that it was not compatible with my Olympus E-520. After some messing around and realising that the flash had to be set on Auto it TTL'd just fine. So if you can, check it before buying it may be OK.

Why wouldn't you buy the oly strob?
