Is the East End of Cayman too rough for diving in early December? The posts seem to say that it can be too windy to reliably dive without getting beat up by the boat ride.

This might sound silly but it depends on the weather!!
It's true to say that the East End can get quite rough during the winter months but operations such as Ocean Frontiers do dive pretty much every day out there.
It does depend on your comfort level but East End dive operators have the option of diving on either the South or North sides of the island depending on sea conditions. Average seas are probably 3-5ft during the winter but of course the weather has a big part to play. East End operations do choose the best conditions to dive in on a day to day basis and there is no reason not to dive there unless you know that you do suffer from sea-sickness.
To play it safe you can dive on the West side of the island which is normally sheltered and offers ideal conditions pretty much year round.
The choice is one of experience and sea-worthiness!!
Hope this helps.
