Only posting in Basic for greatest exposure.

I've been planning an Anilao trip for 6 months. Supposed to leave from Wash, DC tomorrow (sun 18 oct) around 1300. Been monitoring Super Typhoon Koppu/Lando as much as possible, but I would really appreciate some eyewitness viewpoints. Flight path is Wash DC to Seoul, Seoul to Manila. Would be arriving in Manila 2300 on 19 oct. Then a hotel for 8 hours, then a shuttle down to Anilao 9am 20 oct. So I have the following concerns:

Getting into Manila
Getting to Hotel (2km from airport)
Getting from Manila to Anilao on shuttle
Diving conditions in Anilao if I can get there

If i'm gonna bail, I need to decide very soon. Never been to Philippines before, so I have no first-hand knowledge of how things work there. Reports seem to be saying the storm is far enough north to mostly spare Manila, but there is also a lot of conflicting information online. Thanks.

There shouldn't be a need to abort. I'm in Subic... The roads are passable, not too much rain and little wind damage.

Things tend to get cleared up pretty quickly here.

Diving in Subic is a non-starter when we have a 'Storm Signal' in effect, but that's a regulatory issue with the harbor patrol etc... We've been on Signal No. 2. Strong gusty winds, but the sustained speed was not terrible. Large white caps at sea. I don't think Batangas (Anilao) rose above Signal No. 1.

The Strom will likely weaken quickly, so I doubt much disturbance from Monday. But a second typhoon is looming,... Predicted to hit the far north (not central) Luzon.

You'd get more relevant exposure in the PPD area... It's active and plenty of Manila / Anilao divers there...
