Has anyone done any (or considered doing any) exploration around Iona Beach Regional Park in Richmond. I actually have no idea about depth, current or anything. I walked to the end of the pipeline today and the water seemed remarkably clear. It reminded me a little of the Ogden Point breakwater and got me thinking.

I believe that area is SUPER shallow (as can be seen at low tide). I'd love to find a dive site close to home but I don't know if Iona will do it. It's been a while since I've been to the end. Maybe it would be worth while to venture out there at an extreme low tide and see how it looks. If it still looks promising, I'd be happy to join you for an exploratory dive there.

Good point. A walk at low tide is definately in order. Maybe someone at the sanistation has a topo-map of the area too. I will look into it.

Take along your mud boots :) iona.jpg

CHS - Nautical Charts and Services

garmin has nautical charts, and there are other electronic charts around. check sailboat cruising forums. paper charts are available at most marine stores

this is an open source nav program and electronic chart reader-----http://opencpn.org/drupal/----it will use either raster or vector charts---cm93 seems to be a popular data base among the cruisers
