I'm a Fish!
Greetings from Nevada.
What a great opportunity to tell tall stories and wax nestalgic. I took my first skin diving class in Southern California at the age of nine. It was right after the war and diving was getting popular. There were a number of accidents involving people who were making their own scuba equipment from plans published in Popular Mechanics Magazine.

Several life guards from Los Angeles County Recreation Department put together a rough and ready Skin and SCUBA. course designed to get people safely intorduced to this wonderfull sport. Mom said no way, dad saw the handwriting on the wall and would sneak me down to the pool so I could go through the course.

Anyway, most of what I have to contribute will be stories of the evolution of sport diving. Somehow I have managed to survive a long and wonderfull diving career in spite of having made all of the mistakes we teach people to avoid in our classes. At least I hope so, there are several hundred wet people out there who are carrying cards with my signature on them.

Will start out with a response to the diver who was asking about using bubbles to gauge ascent rate

Ole Robert
