Normally I won't do these board introduction things but figured I'd give it a go this time.

Since before I can remember my family would go out to Nags Head. My grandfather took my mother and her family back when she was a kid so we've just always done it. For my senior trip in 2000 when I graduated from High School I decided to book a trip with 11 friends out there to show them the area.

Long story short, I've been going out to the area for awhile and really like it out there, I like the history mostly (I've got about 3 of the "shipwreck" posters by now).

Well this year on a trip with some friends out there one of the guys was certified, but had a broken foot. We had a house right on the beach, and one of the wrecks was 300' off shore and in 20' of water. I never realized they were that close. He said, "you should get certified." and I said, "okay". (visited the new shipwreck museum out there too)

I got certified 2 months after getting back. Ive been going out there so much, but never saw one of the things I most like about the area.

Anyway making plans now with my instructor for some specialties. Most looking forward to PPB. :D

Welcome! Not too far from you. I'm in Owensboro, KY & work the dive shop in Evansville, IN. I do lots of local diving, if you are ever interested.

Thanks Tammy, we've been in to Aquatech a few times when you've been there. We did our checkout dive down in Hopkinsville with Charlie Guerrettaz in September and you were down there with your DPV helping someone with their rescue course I believe.

I had you guys give me some rough prices for equipment. I'm a computer technician so I know I can get good prices online, but I've been really impressed with Aquatech's customer service...for instance. I had a list for my basic gear from there (snorkel, boots, fins, mask) with the prices and was going to go down the next week and pick up the stuff. Well I was bored at work so I decided to see what I could get online for the same stuff. I wrote down the prices on the paper just for comparisons sake. My girlfriend took the list down since I couldn't go so we got the stuff we needed, I didn't intend to have you guys see the prices on there. All in all, after shipping and tax I would have been able to order stuff online for about $35 less. They decided to give us those prices.

I didn't expect that, but because of that decision and others made by you guys I'm going to be getting all my big gear (BC, Regulator, Computer, and maybe even my wetsuits) from Aquatech even though I know I can get a computer about $100 less online.

I remember that dive. I was not helping out with that course, but got involved when they failed to notify everyone that a class was going on, that it was just drills & it was thought it was the real thing. Since I had the DPV, I could get there faster than everyone else. I think they learned a lesson there.:D

Glad we were able to help you out here at the shop. Charlie is a great guy & great instructor. Love him to pieces.
