I read the sticky posts but still thought it seemed appropriate to just ask. What's a good, cheap camera for recreational use. I'm not trying to be an underwater photographer. I'm often spearfishing when I dive, so the camera would be secondary. I would want it to be compact and durable. Video mode would be nice. I found this Intova for $110 plus shipping. Anyone know of a better option for under $200 or have any experience with this one? Thanks

I've had an Intova IC-600 for over a year and it is a sturdy camera that offer a lot of bang for the buck. All of the pictures that I've uploaded in my profile were taken with the IC-800 so you can see the quality. Video is where it doesn't perform as well since the videos are only 320 x 240.

For better video you can go for the IC-800 or IC-10 although that would be close or past $200. I always recommend Intova to divers interested in getting into underwater photography since it's cheap compared to other cameras and it performs really good. If you find that you like taking pictures you can then upgrade to a better option.

Intova also sells trays, arms & strobes that go with it's cameras so you can grow with it, and the prices are just as good.
