I had this forwarded to my attention and thought I would pass it along. One thing to consider when viewing this is, it is always preferred to do a recovery with the least hazard (or exposure to hazard) to the diver. When technology can help, it is prudent to use it...

A fatal dive accident caught on tape...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eejQPUyeNiY

Video taped by Yuri Lipski who killed in a diving accident in the "Blue Hole", Dahab, Egypt at 28.4.2000.
The video shows rare footage taken by Yuri's head camera, analyzed by specialists.
Since 1968, more than 100 divers lost their lives at this mysterious place

Hi Blades,

Clip 1 is a combination of three tapes I've seen previously, all from the Blue Hole in Dahab, with at the end of the clip part of the Yuri Lipski tape. The first part is the various kinds of dive equipment found near the Blue Hole/Dahab, on the bottom. The second part is the body of a female diver who's family decided she should stay down there rather than recovering her body. Forgot her name, but in the accidents forum there are lengthy discussions about these 3 clips.

Clip 2 is new to me.

Clip 3 is interesting, although the people watching it and commenting are anything but experts. Lengthy discussions have been held about this clip in the accidents forum.

Do you have any more info on clip 2? Where, who?

The Blue Hole in Dahab is in my humble opinion not that mysterious, it's merely a dead trap for untrained (for what they're attemtping to do) and not correctly prepared divers who try to go the full depth of the dive site, apparently about 110 meters.

Thanks a million for the input, and I am certain the other PSD forum members apprecaite learning some of the background. I have ZERO information on these videos and your input is great. Thanks!

I agree with you on "Clip 3" and didn't find any benefit from the commentary. It was remarkable though knowing how the tape started and how it ended. Sobering...
