Hello,
I an new tothis forum and USED TO dive a lot in southern California as well as the coastal islands. I quit diving about 25 years ago and now find myself in the middle of Saudi with what I am told is some very good diving here off the coast of Jeddah. Way back when, I had certifications from NAUI, PADI, as well as Los Angeles County. Like I said - that was a long time ago.
I am interested in meeting some new friends and going out on some boat dives as an observer. Maybe after I loose another 35 pounds, I will consider being re-certified. I know that alll the equipment is different but the sport \I'm sure is still basically the same. I love the life style and the close friends that typically come from a group of people who dive together.
I am thinking about going to Jeddah around the 21st of March and am currently looking for a potential boat to go out on. Contact me if you have similar interests!!

I am currently in Riyadh myself and I deploy to Jeddah for about 6 months of the year. I dive the Jeddah area quite a bit and have some contacts up there. Desert Sea Divers has a boat trip that you can go on either as a diver or a snorkeler, the cost is minimal. I am thinking 300 for a diver and 200 if not, this includes an all day outing and lunch. You can rent equipment or purchase it there and they can help out with a refresher if you decide to do that. Just call Ziad there at +966563952008 and tell him I sent you and he will take care of you. You will love the diving or snorkeling in the Red Sea,visibility is awesome and water temps are warm. No need for a wet suit unless you get cold easy. I wear a .5 shorty the whole year and thats for all dives, mainly for the tank straps.
I have included my phone number and email if you want to give me a call or shoot me an email, there is a lot of diving in the area.

Cheers
Michael

Welcome to the board and welcome back to diving! I'd love to go diving out around those parts, definitely take advantage of that while you are there.
