I am thinking of staying at the Intercontinental Presidente from 3/23/06 to 3/28/06.
My wife is not a diver and I want to do some advanced diving....dive profile limited by computer....not overloaded boat...advanced sites.
Which dive operations would be best to check out that service guest at this hotel?

My wife will use the fitness facility and spa while I dive.
Does the fitness facility have nice treadmills? Does it have A/C?
How would the SPA services rate?

I will be coming to the hotel from the Cancun Hotel zone and will need to return to the Cancun airport.
Is there a best recommended way to accomplish the transportation to and from the hotel?

Any other comments about this hotel would be appreciated.

Just got back Friday and did the same route since I had Frequent Flyer tickets on USAir to Cancun. A couple of minor points...

1. You can also get a taxi from Cancun to the Playa-Coz ferry. Cost is $63 USD for 2.

2. The taxi's drop you a few blocks short of the ferry - I assume so that the guys with the bicycle carts get their opportunity at your wallet. I am not complaining, if you have bags to check onto the ferry, these guys will whisk you past the long line of people and directly onto the ferry.

3. Pesos and USD were pretty much used interchangably, no issues there.

4. We were warned to lock our passports up in the hotel safe. Apparently they are a hot commodity in the area.

5. Take your own sun screen, its expensive in Coz.

We stayed and dived at Fiesta Americana / Dive House. They are located a short piece up the road from the Presidente. Dive House had multiple boats going out each day, but none were full (October). Its was quite pleasant - about 8-10 people on a 14+ passenger boat. Dive House did match up the skill sets of divers so that everyone got the most out of their diving. The Divemasters were excellent!

viz was good, but not great by Coz standards. I expect it would be considerably better by next March.

My favorite advanced dive was Punta Sur (Devil's Throat). Had a blast!
