To avoid completely hijacking the other thread which was nominally about the EU, let me start again. I'm looking to insure a moderate (around CAD5000) amount of camera gear against all perils, particularly flooding. My current house insurer (Aviva) refuses to provide coverage against water damage (except some listed perils which don't apply). My broker has not so far been too helpful, so I'd like some specific hints to give them. It probably varies a bit by province (I'm in New Brunswick), but can people tell me Canadian success stories with riders for camera gear or other solutions available in Canada?

Dan dive insurance has equipment insurance also. I use it and i am in canada to.

That's very interesting, as the footer reads "Dive equipment insurance administrated by Senn-Dunn-Marsh-Roland. Available to residents of the United States only."

Having been with many divers who lost cameras; the first insurance anyone should get is a secure tether that stays clipped to a D ring any time you are close to the water.

I can tell you from experience that this does not help with a flooded housing, except to make sure you surface with a dead camera to instead of empty-handed. 🥹 I guess it also means that I don't need to replace the strobes,
