Hye there
My question is as follow , I have leak in my inspiration lungs and O2 first stage, and I am sending the lib and the hand set to be upgraded to AP Valve, so do u think I have to send the lungs as well and the first stage or change all the o rings of the lungs and deal with it my self and repair the reg as well ( I mean no need to send these ones ) . I believe that the reg is apex and I don’t think if I opened it, it will be different from other reg, so do u have any note or idea about what do I have to take care about in specific, or it’s a normal reg like any other ones.
Or what do u think should I do? Thanks in advanced for the help.

APD wont service regs so no point sending them back. Any dive shop can service the Apeks regs, just tell them the interstage pressure must be 7.5 bar max

As for the lungs you can easily remove all the fittings and replace. Its often the round rubber disk under the T piece that goes, Can be easily replaced or just put a smear of silicon rubber on it to seal it. There are pictures and details of how to do this on my site in the section where I fit an Apeks Auto dump in mine

I can provide more pics or help if you need it, its really easy

Dear madmole
Thanks for the help, but I hope u don’t mind can u send me the link to the page u told me about, I looked all over your web site and I could not fined it ( I m sorry ).
And one more thing I realize that lots of people are changing the yellow box to something else, so it would be more practical and maybe hold more tanks. So I was talking to a friend and he sent me his inspiration case model and he told me if I want one like this we can make it for me,though i can do it my self but will take too much time and thinking, anyway I am attaching the pic of his unit maybe u can have a look and tell me your point of view and what do u think could it be better. But I am thinking to keep the tank upside down, cos it would be easy to open. And I don’t want to add the long hose to open the valve.
What I am thinking of course is the back plate and dive rite wing, but what do u think about this case ???
Madmole I really thank u for all the help and hope one day I could do the same for u .

Hi Wazza,

aside from the larger 'boxes', as seen on madmole's website, there are several companies who make custom frames for Inspiration parts.
Have a look at them, you can compare them to your friends unit.

Diving Equipment Specialties in the US
http://www.techdivetools.com./

Deep Bandits in Germany
http://www.deepbandits.de/

and one called Jan Box from Denmark
www.jj-technique.com

From the pic you send it looks like the tanks are right side up to protect the valves. I rather have them upside down without the additional valve extension, too. Reduces clutter. While the whole thing looks pretty cool, it doesn't look particulary streamlined. Finally, I thing I'd like the exhaust hose to scrubber connection better protected.

I think madmole referred to this page on his site:
http://www.btinternet.com/~bhowell/instaladv1.htm
(if not, correct me. mole)

By the way, who builds the frame in your pic?

:) Stefan

Wow
It worked, dear caveseeker thanks for the help, I tried what madmaole told me to do and I saw the web u send me and its bombastic, I don’t have leek as much I use to have. What I mean that when I use to inflate the lungs after a minute they use to deflate and now it needs at least 20 minutes to be a bit looser ( I mean a very bit )
I think I do have an other leak somewhere else thought I cant hear it, I will try this time to put the machine in water so it will me more clear, but my question if I don’t have the spacer inside the canister could it be the reason?
And one more thing thanks for the web site u send but I don’t know if u agree with me, that the covers don’t look that cool ( they are ugly ) really and I still think that the pic I posted is cooler then the others, what do u think? Did u see more interesting boxes ?
And concerning my pic in my profile , I did it, come on I am not asking madmole to do it for me as well, don’t u think I am asking him to much question and u want me to ask him for this as well ahahahahah I don’t think so , anyway he is an extreme nice person and he is always there for every one.
Thanks again caveseeker

Most leaks I find on the inspiration lungs are at one of the manual inflators (between bag and fitting) not the fitting and the inflator assembly..

The counterlung fittings are left handed thread.. youll need a 13mm allen key to tighten it.. if you open the outer covering you can put pressure on the back side of the fitting while you attempt to tighten it.. It has to be very tight.. I'll bet if you put soapy water on it youll find a very sklight leak.. If tightening it doesn't work youll have to replace the protector on the inside..

OK to test for a leak you need to isolate where it actually is

Scrubber unit
Inhale Lung
Exhale Lung
Mouthpiece

You can do this fairly easily. Take of the mouthpiece hose section and the lungs

Connect the Mouthpiece hoses to both side of one lung and inflate. No problem you know its not that lung or mouthpiece. Problame its the lung or mouthpiece

Repeat with other lung. No problem you know its not that lung or mouthpiece. Problame its the lung or mouthpiece, If the problem was on both the above its leikely the mouthpiece or its hose

Next put the mouthpiece hose directly on the scrubber and inflate (its harder to tell, feel the preessure in the hoses.

This way you can narrow down what is actually leaking. To find the actual leak, use water with a lot of washing up liquid in it p brushed on, or better still, go to any plumbing store and get gas leak setecting spray. This is much more sensitive to small leaks and easier than using the bath

Common leak locations are the mouthpiece, the T pieces where the hoses connect and the connection from the Exhale hose to the scrubber lid. Strip them all down, check the O rings and relube.

Also if your unit doesn't have bevelled edges on the T connectors, then get a knife and bevel them. This makes it easier for the O rings to seat properly and not be rotated from the Connectors

I might to a page on testing as several people have asked me about this recently. You should have been shown this in your training

Madmole thanks for the help , but what about the case did u see the one I have attaché in the earlier message?
Thanks again

Looks cool but thats about it

Far too much drag, sticks out about 2" more than original, Mounthing tanks that way up is stupid. Upside down works fine. You MUST be able to get at the valves Instantly, 2 slob knobs is just a joke. No protection for anything important. and a nightmare to get to everything if you need to do a quick fix

If you want bigger cylinders then either mount them on the outside of the existing case or get Justins 7l case, this looks just like the original but is 2" longer and wider and takes 2x 7l tanks, but is a direct replacement, and lid clips on as before, and is black if you want to look like a sad techie ;) (mine is sprayed :D yellow). Its such a good replacement that 99% of folks would never notice its not original

Or course you could go alpinist  and not neet any more cylinders ;)

Adding to more O2 and diluent Inflator on the lungs, what could it be useful for ?
Maybe u can go with 4 tanks and different mixes and u can change the mix during the dive and go deeper (lets say in a Trimix dive) , or for more safety ? do u have any other ideas what it could be useful for and is it that import if u have them for a Trimix ccr dive. I saw one inspiration this way and I am wondering if it’s a good idea or only a show of.
Thanks again mad madmole you’re the man and thanks for every one as well.
