Hi ,

Canon S70

I am thinking about buying a WA lens & possibly an external flash. I will be in Singapore in a couple of weeks so intend to buy some accessories over there.

Does anybody have any experience with the Inon UWL100-28AD ultra wide angle lens or similar.

I realise I will have to buy the adapter to fit the lens due to the Canon casing I have.
Also the dome port for this lens, will this help taking above /below surface shoots.
While snorkelling I have always tried to get photos with half the frame under water/half above water without success due to the small lens aperture. Will adding a large dome port help?

Would be happy to spend approx $1000-1500 (US)
Would appreciate any feedback.

Great site by the way, only just found it while searching on Wetpixel.

Anybody thinking about buying a cheap basic P&S , the Canon S70 is ok and can deliver some nice photos using the correct settings.

I've got Inons fisheye and love it, I have a friend who uses the W/A and he's sold on it. I'd recomend either. Get one of Inons close up lenses as well then you'll be
covered for most situations.

When I had my S70, I tried my friend's fisheye dome + UWL100 during a liveaboard trip in the Similan Islands. You do need to zoom out just a tad bit to avoid vignetting. Otherwise, it's a nice lens and really adds another dimension to a great little u/w camera. I didn't get a chance to do an over-under shot with the dome on.

Over/under shots arn't too sucessfull as there is water trapped between the lens and
front of housing and the dome is too small a diameter. Otherwise a great lens.
