Hi! Does anyone know if it's safe to stack macro lenses on olympus housings? I use a single Inon UCL165 M67 with the 67mm thread on a PT-027 (for Oly 7070) and am planning to buy another one. Are the port latches strong enough to support the added weight?

Another option would be to buy the Inon AD port and AD lenses but this will be much more expensive since (for the 7070) I'll have to change the port (28 AD port - $170)and not just add a mount. The upside to this option is that you can safely add heavier WA lenses to the AD mount but I'm not really sure if I'll go that far with this camera and housing. In the future, will the Inon AD lenses be more versetile than the 67mm threaded ones? I would like to be able to use the lenses with other cameras or housings as well. Also, are the AD lenses really much easier to use than the threaded ones?

I use 2 x Inon 165 plus 1 x Epoque DML2 on my PT-027 without any problems.

The AD lenses are definitely easier to use , my dive buddy has them but as I have already gone the M67 route I'm reluctant to spend more money. The threaded lenses are a PITA to use sometimes.

Well, that's good to know. I also feel I've already spent too much on the 5060/7070 system. Thanks again Andy!

Inon makes the AD adaptor for almost all popular models, so if you go with the Inon lenses, you're only out about another $50-$60 to adapt them to your next rig. The bayonet adaptor lets you swap quickly UW, where threaded ones take fiddling. If you overtighten the threaded lens slightly, you can accidentally unscrew your port while trying to take it off. (I have, as has someone else I know-fortunately, I noticed before it turned too far!)

Yes, I did overtighten the lens once and could hardly get it off the port. Fortunately I didn't break the latches or flood the case while trying. That is another thing to consider and I'm glad you pointed it out. Perhaps replacing the oly with the Inon port will eventually extend the life of my cameras-- and I do value my cameras more now that they have been discontinued.
