Greetings everyone!

I'm about to buy an Inon D2000 for my 5050 and I'm wondering if my current arm/clamp setup will support it, or do I need to buy a new one. Here is a pic of my Bonica strobe.. I really like the arm system so hopefully it will attach! But will it?!

Anyways, any help is much appreciated!

Uh.....I see two of the same photo! :D

I have the D-180, not the 2000 but I think they are built the same. You can use it but the strobe will be sideways. In other words, in that last photo, your strobe bottom will be where the screw knob is. At first it looked funny to me but I actually like it this way now, it just makes the wording upside down! :D

I have both a D-180 and D-2000 and indeed they are built both the same. Assuming that the thread for the screw is the same, the screw knob in the pic would screw directly into the bottom of the strobe as Dee mentions, rather than at the side like your existing strobe. I use a ball clamp system, so there is a ball adaptor screwed into the bottom of both my strobes.

It looks to me like the stud is a 3/8"-16TPI Stud, which will not screw into the d-2000.

The D-2000 recieves a 6mm stud

One option would be to turn the strobe sideways, as dee mentioned, with a 6mm bolt through arm into the base of the strobe. My concern with this is that since the hole will be much larger than the bolt that the strobe might have a bit of a wobble, causing the bolt to back out.

One option, if you really like the strobe arm, is to mount an AD-3816 from ULCS onto the top of the arm, and attach your d-2000 to it via a clamp and an AD-IN. This will give you a bit of flexibilty at the top of the arm, and should be more secure.
