I'm a Fish!
Can you give me your feeling about hammerhead backplates ?
Thanks

I've purchased five plates from Hammerhead as well as two heavy STA's. The company is a pleasure to work with. The conventional plate (without handles) is easily the equivalent, if not better than any SS plate on the market.

Rumor has it that they ripped off FredT's design... so it should be a good plate. ;)

Very pleased with mine, worth what it cost, well made. A tech once pointed out that the square bolt holes are hard to run bolts through...but thats minor.

I actually think the square bolt holes are a plus. Allows me to use a carriage bolt. I can tighten the wing nut without holding the head of the bolt.

Thats a point I hadn't thought of, I think Ill change my bolts next time.

If you are using one of the Hammerhead STA's the the square part of the carriage bolt won't contact the plate. The Hammerhead STA's are pretty thick. Works well though with the lighter STA's.

Although, as I think about it further, if the holes are sqaure on your STA, there probably would be no advantage to square holes on the plate.
