Hi Everyone:

Does anyone have experience diving with SeaVentures in Fajardo, Puerto Rico? They run dives out of Humacao also. We're going to be visiting there next month and are considering SeaVentures for a dive trip, but don't know anything about them. Earlier threads on them are over a year old so I was hoping for some recent experience. Thanks in advance.

WOW, not even the boriquenos on this board are familiar with these guys! Should I be worried about diving with an unknown shop? This will be our first dive since OW cert.

I dove with them in Jan of this year. They run the boats for Palmas Dive center. You asked for those who did them recently. Maybe no one on the board does. When I dove with them none of the other 12 people on the boat heard of Scubaboard. The boats are nice, well maintained, well equipped, and their rental gear is fairly new and in good shape. I would take my own MSF and suit though. They put a guide in the water which I don't care for but once they saw we knew what we ( my OW student and I) were doing they let us dive our own plan. Understand that they are a quality op and the guide is just that a guide. He is not there to babysit you. You should be competent and able to set up your own gear. They will not do it for you unless asked and if that's the case expect to be treated like a potential problem. They will not verify your set up or if your air is turned on. It is not their job to do so. They have fresh fruit, cookies, and water for the trip on board. I liked diving with them and would do so again given the chance since they respect a divers training and don't treat them like numbers but as people.

Fajardo is a nice easy site. Humacao has deeper depths and currents that can be intimdating to new divers. They normally do not take new OW divers there. We lucked out because they saw my skill level and the level of skills of my student and knew we'd be ok.

Jim, thanks for the response. Being new, I was concerned about being with a quality shop. I also appreciate the input on Fajardo vs. Palmas. I'll stick with Fajardo this time. We'll have a couple of experienced divers and a couple of us newbies. I'm looking forward to the trip. Thanks again for the the insights.

Have never dove with them but have been in and out of their dive shop many times..we would get our tanks filled, pick up odds and ins from time to time.

.we would go from San Juan to Fajardo doing dive jobs .

i thought it was a nice set up,,this was back in 1998-2003.

good diving all around P.R.
