Has anyone been on a RCCL ship that has a Sea Trek shop? I'm diving on RCCL Liberty of the Seas in September and wanted to know what type of gear they have for sale on board the ship. Apparently they sell gear at tax-free and duty free prices. Problem is, I don't know brands/models they carry, and I'd really like to shop for prices before I get on board so I know what kind of deals they offer, if any. I'm looking to buy a wetsuit and possibly a dive computer on this trip if the price is right. Any information you can share is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I dealt with one on the Mariner of the Seas back in March- one man operation and a really nice guy!

They had mostly Aqualung and Suunto from what I saw, I brought my own gear for some diving we did so I didn't really check pricing.

I'll be back on Mariner in September- if Liberty is half as good as Mariner you'll have a blast!

themons is right. I just got back a few days ago and the prices on board are basically MSRP, so there are no deals. For computers, they told me that Suunto wouldn't let them sell for less, but they could possibly discount the cost of the dives to get around this. On the last day, they said that Suunto dropped the price of all computers by $150, although they only carry higher end models so the discount didn't really seem that great (eg. their regular prices were $1850 for the D9, $850 (I think?) for D6 and $650 for the D4, so their sale was $150 off these prices. They don't sell models like the Gekko).

On the plus side, I was able to rent a D9 (no transmitter) for the week for only $15 and used it for all 6 dives. The dives were all great. I know many people don't like Jamaica, but it was better than I expected, although I admit not as good as Cayman or Cozumel. The only complaint about Jamaica was their rental gear was garbage. The Cayman and Cozumel dives were fantastic, starting with a wall dive in both islands, followed by a shallower reef dive. All dives had awesome visibility, warm water, and tons to see. Can't wait to go back.

They sell Aqua Lung dive gear and Suunto dive watches. All at great prices. The main savings you will be making is that you dont pay any tax.
