Hi,

I have been prescribed Inderal 40mg 1 b.d for reoccuring headaches. I have had CT head/sinuses and everything was clear. I just want to make sure this is ok to take while diving. I asked my doc and he said yes, but just wanted to double check.

Thanks,

Mel :)

Inderal (propranolol) is in a class of drugs called beta blockers.

You can read what Scubadoc has to say about beta blockers and diving at:

http://www.scuba-doc.com/cvdrugs.htm

DAN also mentions beta blockers and diving in several articles such as this article on hypertension:

HTH,

Bill

Mel,

These are good sources, but your 40mg of propranolol (Inderal) is unlikely to cause much of a change in your exercise tolerance, etc. It's quite a low dose, which is appropriate for you since you're taking it for migraine prophylaxis & not hypertension. I don't think you'll have any problems, and I commend you for asking your doctor about contraindications with diving.
