I work in CT Monday through Friday, and am in NJ on the weekends. I'm hoping to get certified for a low cost, but have good training.

I'm in Hartford in CT, Central NJ on the weekend. Any recommendations?

The scuba connection in hillsborough, nj

Great training, great price!

Second "The Scuba Connection" in NJ they are the best in the area I spoke to a lot of shop and if you speak to them I think you will also agree. They also have there own Pool on site so that makes the class very easy and there is never a rush as they dont have a time limit. Awesome instructors one the best Training Facilites and Staff.

I took my OW course with The Scuba Connection and it was amazing! So much that i am taking my AOW course with them in may! I have bought 95% of my gear from them as well. They are also willing to price match too (within reason). There is no pressure to buy "the best" stuff on the market. They inform you, the buyer, about all kinds of products, and then let YOU decide on what suits your needs. They have a pool on site like a22shady said where they do training. They also let you use the pool for free to try out gear. All the staff are very knowledgable and very kind. I cant say enough about them. They have hooked me up many of times.

Low cost and good training aren't exactly best friends.

In CT, the best instructor I know is Ed Hayes. His shop, Scuba Shack (Scuba Shack - GUE & PADI Training, Diver Equipment - Connecticut), is in Rocky Hill. When they aren't heading to the coast, they dive nearby at Brownstone Quarry (Brownstone Park - Zip Lines, Wakeboards, Rock Climb, Water Slides and Toys, Scuba and Swim) in Portland.

+1 on Ed Hayes and Scuba Shack, great instructor

Wherever you do wind up going, please stay FAR away from NJ Ocean Explorers in Edison, NJ. Thats all im gonna say about that.
