In Cairns 24 Oct Monday) - 29 Oct (Saturday) - best liveaboard to take

Hi all, this is my first post on the boards!

I will be in Cairns for the above period and have been searching online for a good liveaboard trip in that timeframe. I've checked out Mike Ball, Taka and a few others, and the best seems to be the 3 night Cod Hole trip by Mike Ball (Mon-Thur). However, I would like a longer trip if possible - to maximise my time in Cairns. I have a wedding in Sydney to attend on Sunday so can't extend further.

Any suggestions for other liveaboards I can consider? I've searched for hours online already but can't seem to find another trip in my timeframe.

Oh, as it stands I will be diving alone so if anyone would like to pair up, gime a shout!

Mike Ball and also Spirit of Freedom both leave Mondays for the Cod Hole, and these are arguably the best trips to see the Barrier Reef. They also leave Thursdays for the Coral Sea trips, but if you are leaving Saturday then you can’t fit both in. Also remember to leave 24 hours prior to flying, so assume that if you are returning Thursday after the Cod Hole trips then you really only have one day (assuming you fly out Saturday evening and not day).

There are 2 day 1 night options too (Ocean Quest and Kangaroo Explorer)- see link above. Could do when you got back, but its pushing it.


I would stick to the 4 day Cod Hole and see how you feel when you get back. Mike Ball or Spirit are definately the best 2.

Also most divers on these trips are travelling solo so get buddied up on board.
