Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month with Dr. Anne Stewart as she presents on the Mexican archaeological site, Chichen Itza.

In 1879, Edward Thompson a young American college student began studying Mayan sacrifices through cenotes. Years later he led an excavation team to the Sacred Cenote and recovered artifacts of gold, jade, ceramics and more. This talk will detail his archaeological exploits into the underwater world of a God.

The presentation is always FREE and starts at 7 pm at History of Diving Museum.

Museum members can call ahead to reserve their seats!

I remember seeing that cenote at Chichén Itzá and wondering what was at the bottom of it. They told us that various sacrificial items had been found, and also that the pyramid itself was over a cenote. Would love to hear more.
