Hello, I am thinking about getting one and just wondering what the dome is made of. Is it plastic or glass ? Does it get scratched easily ? Do I need to get a protection cover for it ? Thanks in advance.

The front of the WD-4 is acrylic. It can scratch if it makes contact with something sharp. Often fine scratches, if they occur, will fill in with water and won't be visible in your photos.
The built-in dome shade offers some protection, especially when setting it down on a table. It also includes a neoprene dome cover to protect the dome when not in use.
