off topic, shouldn't be in this category, but don't know how else to ask:

I have a very similar system including canon 30d cams. I'm not buying or selling but have a question. Exactly what lens have you been using with your housing and are you happy with it. I've been using a canon 17-85 mm lens (I think) and with my domed port I have to use a +4 diopter lens. Problem is, with that combination, I can never take a photo above water. Most photos I take are with the lens at the shortest focal length, but it is nice once in a while to zoom in.

What is a better choice of lens. I'd like to keep it a zoom, but would like to get away from the diopter lens and be able to get shots above water. It doesn't have to be a canon lens. What is a good focal length range to have?

BTW, I'm about to change to an Ikelite housing for my 7d and keep my strobes and other accessories. I take two cameras, my GL2 for video and 30D for stills, would like to use one camera for both.

Jim
