Regards to all. I have an Olympus Camedia D-560 with u/c and looking for a strobe to use with, and found the Ikelite mentioned in the title, but no matter how many times I have tried the browsers and didn't find the right information. Does anyone know how this substrobe activates?, has a light sensor that detects the camera's built-in flash?. I'm starting with underwater photography and will appreciate very much any suggestion with strobes for my D-560.

Thank you all in advance for your help....

Gino.

Yes ... that strobe was triggered by the strobe in the Aquashot. In order to get it to work with any other camera, you will need to install some sort of deflector over the camera flash that 10 blocks the flash from shooting forward which will minimize backscatter and 2) aims the light towards the sensing eye.

If you notice the pictures of the Aquashot, the strobe had a fixed arm since it needed to have the trigger flash aimed precisely so it may just be more work than it is worth.

Thanks Rcontrera, do you know what kind/type/model of strobe should I look for?. I appreciate very much your help.

Best regards.
Luis.

I am a big fan of Ikelite strobes. You might try giving them an email and pick their brains. I would comment, but am a film shooter and just am not that familiar with digital UW equipment.

If you are just starting with underwater photography, and you have a C-5060, learn everything you can about the camera by shooting with the internal flash only for a while. It will do some really amazing things all by itself using the internal flash TTL. I shot about 5000 pictures with the internal only before biting the bullet and getting an Inon D180. Now I am going through another complete learning curve to get exposures right again! There are things that you can only do with an external flash for sure, but you will be surprised at what you can do with the 5060 alone.

Thanks for the help Rcontrera, I will contact Ikelite for further info. Regards.

jghflash, thanks for the help, but what I have is a D-560, a very basic point & shoot, and after taking some pictures underwater, I just wanted to improve colors with an external strobe, and found the model I writed about for a reasonable price, and just needed to know if it will work with my camera. Best regards.
