I have a couple of Ikelite strobes that have broken plastic mounting tabs. The little plastic wedge shaped thing that slides into the slot under the strobe body. They slide in and are held in place with a little screw. The strobe arms screw into them. I need to find a couple of them because without them, my strobes are useless but I don't even know what they're called so I'm having trouble finding them. AARRHGGHH! Can somebody please tell me what they're called? Thanks

This being a photography forum, can you take a picture of your issue?

Which Ikelite strobe? Ikelite is pretty good about product support and providing spares and repairs. Call them up.

?

Do you mean the ball mount?

Waterwulf,

Sent you a DM if these are what you're looking for for old straight Ikelite tubular arms.

Ok, I figured out my problem. (One of them anyway!) My camera rig is not standard. I'm using an Oly 7070 in an Oly 027 case. The case has a cold shoe slot on top of it but it does not look very substantial so I'm only using it for a small vid camera. My strobe is mounted on an extension that is attached to the bipod/weight mount on the bottom of the housing. It's pretty substantial. The extension has a double jointed adapter on it to let me aim the strobe where I want it. It sits to the top left of the lens.

The problem is that that double jointed adapter has a 1/4 mounting bolt on top so I had to cut the ball off of the ball mount (Now that I know what to call it) and then drill/tap the wedge part so it will thread on. It weakens them so they eventually break. I've decided to go a new route. I'm going to mold one out of steel epoxy mixed with baking soda. If that looks shaky, I'll build a lite weight aluminum strap for it.

This rig is small, lite weight and takes "pretty good" pictures. I'm a total amateur and maybe not even that high so it suits me fine. I have an Ikelite case with handles for the same camera but it's huge and heavy.

Can you post a picture of your rig? I once use Oly C7070 too, but in Ikelite Housing.
I'd suggest you find a way to adapt your 'Extension' to a ball mount system. that would give you better flexibility and options to find parts in the future.
