I'm getting ready to jump into dSLR with both feet and have a port/lens fit question.
I have yet to get the camera/lenses, but am leaning toward a used/refurbed Canon 30D. I'm going with Ike for the housing. I'd ultimately like to get the Canon 10-22 for wide and a 60 or so for macro, but for starters, I want a good quality midrange zoom for land use as well as in the housing.
Since it's all about good glass, I got to looking at the Canon 17-40mm f4L USM as a good step up from the kit lens. According to the Ike port chart, the recommended port is a 5503.51, which is listed as a specific port for the Tokina 12-24. What I can't really determine from Ike's website is what the difference is between the 5503.50 (recommended for the 10-22 that I ultimately want) and the 5502.51.
Lens dimensions:
Canon 17-40 -- length 97mm, diameter 83.5
Canon 10-22 -- length 90mm, diameter 83.5
Tokina 12-24 -- length 90mm, diameter 84
Now the questions:
Is the 5503.51 just a touch longer, making it better for the 17-40 than the .50?
Would the 10-22 work ok in the .51, or would I wind up vignetting at the short end?
Anyone out there using the 17-40?
Thanks in advance!
Cheers,
