Hi,

If there's someone out there that has the same problem as I did with the Ikelite macro lens port (Model#5508.45) for my Canon 100mm USM lens, pls let me know if there is a possibility of resolving it.

Below is an extract of my posting in the URL above.

".....I'm having trouble with my Ikelite macro lens port (Model#5508.45) for my Canon 100mm 1:2.8 EF USM Macro (for Canon 350D/Rebel XT). (I'm not sure where I should post this so I thought I start here and be re-directed.)

The knob on the port is fitted with a plastic gear at the end and sits on a rotating mechanism which grips onto the focus ring on the lens. The gear is worn out and is caused by what feels like too tight a grip on the between gear and the rotating mechanism. So now the gears are worned out and I can no longer adjust my focus ring. Here's what the gear looks like now.

I've already had my first lens port replaced and the same problem happened for the replacement unit. My replacement unit is now with my local dealer 'coz he would like to try and tweak it....... "

Thanks!

Gosh, that looks aweful! Like Alcina said, I would call Ike - their service department is very good and very nice and fast. I have emailed them too, but it is a little slower than calling. Since you are in Asia, however, . . .

I haven't had any trouble with mine, but then I leave it in autofocus mode the whole time. (Works fine with the 5d, ymmv.)

Best advice: box it up, ship it to Ike.

You might also ask over at wetpixel.com - more Canon dSLR users over there.
Good luck!

Thank y'all for the inputs.

The busted port is on its way back to Ikelite. The thing that eats me up is making the consumer pay for the shipping cost which is quite a bit from Asia to US.

My dealer is quite cool and is taking care of that for me.

Let's see what's next when Ikelite receives it......
