I have a very nice Ikelite housing for a Canon 20D I've been shooting on, and as I'm starting to plan for this coming season I'm realizing I may need to upgrade housings.

A friend mentioned to me that his housing survived in the mid 200 FSW range, but the buttons were hard to use. Has anyone else had a similar experience? I wouldn't mind pushing a big camera purchase off for a few more months....

Yes the springs need changed for the increased pressure. There is a heavy duty kit available online. Otherwise shutter still works deeper (few dozen dives to 270-290th range) unmodified but buttons do not rebound if pressed.

Warranty etc may be a consideration. Also at what depth you may experience water egress.

Regards.
