Can anyone suggest which Canon macro lens to go with....50mm? I have an Ikelite housing & digital Rebel 6.0 megapixel already with the standard 18-55 dome port. Would like to get into macro & wide angle, which lens would be best for each keeping in mind that I will be upgrading the camera body one day soon as budget permits...I know i'll need to get a new housing as well but first things first. for now would just like to get another lens & dome port to fit the set-up i have. Ideas?

I love the 60mm macro.

The 100 macro is a sweet lens but won't give you the versatility of the 60.

Both will give you 1:1 - the 100 gives you more working room, which may or may not be a good thing depending on your style and conditions.

I assume I'll need another dome port to fit the 60mm instead of the 18-55mm dome port?

If I could only have one macro lens, I'd go with the 60mm too. Though I have a longer focal length macro, I use the 60mm the most. It will do macro and will also allow you to do portraits, which you would be hard pressed to do with the 100mm.

Ideally, you would want a flat port to work with a macro lens. the dome lessens the magnification of the macro lens. however, if you really do not want to drop more money on another port, you may be able to get away with using the dome so long as the throw of the lens can be accomodated within the dome port (i.e. when operating the lens, the dome is long enough so that the front element does not hit the dome).

The big disadvantage is like I mentioned, the dome lessens the magnification and if you're not careful, you might bump and scratch the dome.
