Well I received y Ikelite housing today. I have the camera installed and all works well. However, I can't determine how to remove the rubber on the quick release handle and install the ball extension for the arms. Any idea how to do this? I have pushed the metal button forward as per the instructions, but I can remove either the handle or the rubber tip area.

So how do I attache the extension so I can attached the strobe arms?

More bad news as well - dropped the batteries in the strobe. Turned it on heard the start up whine then nothing. Turned off and on several times, other batteries, nothing worked. The strobe appears dead. Lucky I have an older strobe as well.

Just pull hard on the rubber cap. Its not connected to anything, so pushing the metal button won't do anything. The rubber cap is just a cap. It just covers the hole in the handle. To install your arm, you will have to push the button then slide the arm in until it snaps.

Do your still hear the flash charge up when turning it on? My Ds-51 doesn't always discharge itself "by flashing" when turned off. Try connecting everything and see if the flash is triggered. If not, its time to send it in for repair.

Thanks it worked.

That was embarrassingly easy. The directions said something about removing the handle.
