I received my housing yesterday. Looks good with compact features. Problem is control are sluggish or just plain don't seem to match up. Using Video with camera enclosed, I was able to turn on the shutter, but shutter would not turn video off. Zoom works sometimes and sometimes not. Have to push set button hard to get compliance. I can't say that I'm going to be happy with these problems. Anybody else out there. My last point and shoot was a nikon with Fix case and no problems.
A coouple of things here;
1 - Like Nemrod said, you may have the wrong housing, that was the first thing that came to my mind.
2 - You mention zooming, and buttons not working. Through my initial "shakedown" of the Ikelite S90 housing, I almost immediately discovered that after zooming in or out, you must return the zoom control back (on the housing), back to "zero" or middle. It is not spring loaded, and will not do it on it's own. AND, here's what happens; If you just zoomed in or out, and you have the control pegged all the way in either direction, all the controls/buttons stop working until you "release" and return the zoom control (on the housing) back to "zero" or middle. That doesn't mean you have to zoom all the way in either direction. Simply "tap" zoom in increments, and after each "tap", return to the middle. You may ask, "how do I know once I'm back in the middle when I'm underwater, and it's dark, etc ?". I made a reference line with a grease pencil as to where "zero" is. Quite frankly, this doesn't bother me. Every single thing on this planet has it's own little "nuances", and this is one of them for the Ike/S90. I have no real complaints about the Ikelite S90 housing. It works, it's robust, it works, and the "shortcut button" workaround has not been an issue for me. Certainly, not $500 worth of inconvenience compared to the FIX housing for "a dial" on the rear of the housing. With the money I saved, I gladly bought the UWL-04 Wide Angle. AGAIN, just MY 2 cents. I shoot every week out at Catalina Island, Southern California and also travel quite a bit as well to the Caribbean & Florida, with rig in tow.
