I have a new 6038.50 housing for a Sony HDR cx12. I did buy it off of eBay. It has minor cracks radiating from one bolt that secures the handle base to the unit. They do not appear to be through but concern me in the long run. Should I be concerned, can it be fixed? It appeared to be brand new as it was in a factory box that I cut the seal on. It has the registration card etc. I am wondering if maybe it is a reject? I have attached a photo of the area. Let me know what my options are.

Also I have an ikelite housing for a 40D I bought from b&h that is still great except some of the buttons have a fair bit of green corrosion on them. Can I get this refreshed? If so what is the cost? It is about three years old. I have never had any issues with it, just want to make sure it stays that way.

These definitely appear to be small surface cracks. I recommend sending it back to us for evaluation and repair. Please see our FAQ on how to get anything repaired:

We do provide a reconditioning service for SLR-DC housings at a cost of $125 plus return shipping. Also you may consider requesting an upgrade to the four-lock port system at the same time. Details are here:
