I have an Ikelite housing for my Canon A640. After use I found that the way the shutter actuator is set up is beginning to force down the zoom ring around the shutter.
The spring is looped around the end of the actuator in such a way that it hits the zoom ring as the shutter is depressed. I have modified the actuator (see attachment). Holding the clipped off end with a 4-40 pan head screw works just fine.
Does anybody have a solution for the lack of self-centering of Ikelite's zoom actuator? That pisses me off when I'm trying to get a shot and the camera stops working because that lever has moved. That to me is damned poor engineering of Ikelite's case.
After observations of such workmanship I'd get the Canon case if I could find a way to put auxiliary lenses on the port.
