Okay, so I just bought a ikelite housing for my G9, and got a really good deal on a DS-125 strobe. This also included a Inon uwl-100 wet wideangle lens, which ofcourse I would like to use as well.

With the flat port for ikelite you cant use the entire zoom range. This doesnt bother me, but can the flat port damage the camera if you accidently zoom too far?

Maybe someone with the same setup can clarify this for me

Thanks

I've zoomed to far on accident a couple times... it says "lens error" then shuts down. Turns right back on zoomed out... can't say i felt good when it happened, but nothing has appeared to have hurt the camera.

It is very easy to zoom out too far. I have done this too many times and my camera is fine.

I use the G9 in the Patima Housing, which comes with a removable guard that keeps me from zooming in on the subject. I only install the guard when I use the short port and shoot wide angle.

However, I have gotten used to getting as close as possible to my subject instead of zooming, which is probably a good habit for all underwater photographers, so even if I did not have the guard, it wouldn't be an issue.
